Girls’ Football Coaching – Laos

The Wild Frontiers Foundation is working with Lone Buffalo, a community based project in Laos, to promote gender equality, self-confidence and well-being through a girls’ football coaching programme.

The programme, which has been developed under the guidance of FIFA trained local coaches, also aims to encourage social integration and develop an understanding between different ethnicities. Lone Buffalo uses football as an incentive to attract more females to study at its English Development Centre, promoting health and fitness among young females.

The Outcome

The first two Wild Frontiers Foundation sponsored young female football coaches have been putting their charges through their paces during Saturday training sessions in Phonsavan, northern Laos, since November 2016. The sponsorship will continue throughout 2017, offering more girls the opportunity to participate and gain their coaching qualifications.
